4/18/12 - Hola everyone!
Ok, not going to lie, this week started out really hard, Thursday I was starting to get really worried about proselyting, I didn’t think I would be able say anything but I wasn’t like super worried.
Friday in the morning our morning teacher was saying that it would be easy all we would need to do was prepare 5ish minute lessons and 30-45 min lessons for the first thee lessons and I kind of just started crying because I couldn’t do that I can just plan a lesson, me and mi compañera can barely speak Spanish, let alone plan lessons in it. I just feel like we really haven’t learned that much yet, and we have this computer program tall that were supposed to be on every day but because of the construction the internet is down a lot… so tall is down… so the thing that is supposed to help us the most half the time we can’t get on……………
Saturday we went out proselyting… it was kind of a joke, neither of us could say anything. Friday night we memorized how to say that were missionaries and stuff and if we could share a message… but we couldn’t even give a message cuz neither of us could say more than that… we talked to a few people but we couldn’t even understand anything that they were saying… and couldn’t even give them a message… we just tried to say some stuff then handed them a pamphlet.  The other girls had like this super spiritual experience and are going to meet with this one lady again and the other district all did great and then there was us….but there were parrots there! And I got a feather from one of them that I found off the ground hehehe. And we get a sack lunch and that pack us oreos! I don’t know but I think they are made slightly different because they were the most delicious oreos I have ever tasted.
Monday night was really cool though. Da silva our night teacher was teaching us how to transition between the two of us and then he had us teach him as an investigador in English cuz we all feel like we suck at teaching in Spanish. The other girls went first and came back but they said that he had asked if they wouldn’t say anything about it so we just went. We got down there and he was playing the piano when we knocked so he opened the door and we were just doing really good and he let us right in, we talked to him a little bit to get to know him and then started in to our lesson on the restoration and he stopped us half way through! He said we were so good he was about to start crying! And he was! His eyes were tearing up! Oh man, I thought we were doing ok but not that great. I think that I really needed to know that I would eventually be able to do this, that right now my Spanish may suck but I can teach. Apparently the other girls didn’t get in so easily.
Yesterday the other girls planned a song and dance for the door approach its hilarious! We’ll be videotaping it in secret. We taught our morning teacher and our lesson was so bad. She asked in Spanish if she would see god if she prayed and I misunderstood the question and said yes twice to it then my companion started calling joseph smith jesus smith (cuz in Spanish joseph is jóse and jesus is jesus) right after and we just lost it and started laughing so hard we had to just end.
They have really amazing fruit and rolls here let me just tell you, but da silva was saying in his three weeks when he was here he gained 8 lbs and out in the field same mission he gained 30 cuz its all pasta… oh man I love pasta…. This is going to be a challenge, one of my latina roommates when we told her she was joking around that in the end we would all come home as two people!
Today hasn’t been too bad that’s all
Love, danielle
oh also, I thought they would print off dear elder here but they don’t they print it off in salt lake or provo then mail it here so it takes three weeks to get it... so you can still send some to me! then I won’t be the only one not getting mail but I just won’t get it for a while and you won’t get a reply for a while.

4/11/12  More
Oh, also the Easter bunny totally came Sunday! It was pretty cool, we got these huge chocolate eggs with toys inside, it was pretty cool, we talked a lot about the resurrection and stuff that was pretty cool too. One of the words I learned in Spanish is capo it means cool… its like my favorite word now. um, send me dear elder letters! they're free and i get them as letter so i have time to read them, cuz i havent read any of yours as i dont have time. Dad! can you send me some stamps? that way i can send letters to you? i can write those in my free time as well, i only need one per letter as we have pouch mail to go out and they just go to salt lake, it will be different once I get to Uruguay though and I’ll have to get Uruguay stamps so I can send to you.  There’s also only like 50 misioneros here total, the latinos only stay for three weeks then they go out and we get new people while English speakers stay for the nine. and we have these horrible chairs in the sacrament room! they dont have any backs! just like an outline in wood then cushion in the middle, they hurt my back way bad. That’s all for real.
4/11/12
I hope you all are doing well, its interesting here, sometimes it’s really hard and sometimes I really like the structure.  Ok, I wrote a list of stuff to talk to you about cuz I don’t have much time so here goes.
The mosquitoes here are huge! Not really there’s just a lot of them, I get like three bites a day if I’m lucky. I got one on my wrist the other day and it itches like crazy.
We only get milk in the morning for our cereal cuz breakfast is always cereal, we have this really good like granola cereal that I get but it really soaks up the milk so I only get half a bowl so I can get a full bowl of milk… then I can drink that after. Otherwise its water for breakfast.
The main part of the meal is meat for lunch and dinner… its ok most of it has been good actually today we had a steak and I didn’t like that but we had yams with it! It made everything better (yams are my favorite vegetable)
The other day we had these brownies for desert that had the dulce de leche in the middle and they were amazing! Lots of the natives had never even heard of brownies before! They kept asking us what they were! But they were so amazing!
We have bidets here, those things that you like spray your butt… part of me wants to try it but the other part is way scared to! I don’t know… I tried spraying it just a little (not while I was on it, just next to it) and it sprayed way hard! TMI
We don’t have any elders in our district like I said, so we just kinda joined the other north American district. There are ten of us total I love all of them, they are so nice, I just wish we could be more together… so like for English stuff were together but learning were separate… 8 of us are from Utah, one from CA and one from Sydney Australia. She has the best accent.
The first few days we didn’t have teachers cuz one was gone and the other quit so they just kinda made stuff up for us… but our night teacher is back and we got a new morning teacher… she only speaks Spanish though… which makes it hard, the Spanish is going ok, I feel like I should be better than I am and the two other compañeras had Spanish before so they can already talk in sentances and I’m just like…. Me gusta leche.
Saturday we have to go out proselyting or however you spell that.  I don’t think I’ll be able to say anything… hopefully I can say something.
We have these birds that are super loud here, watch a movie with the jungle in it that caw caw caw… yeah that’s what we wake up to every morning.
I keep trying to see the stars but it gets super cloudy every night so I can’t and its really frustrating. I never thought I would miss just looking outside at night.
The Temple and the ccm still under construction, half the ccm is blocked off it’s a pain and the temple won’t be open while were here unfortunately. So the girls and guys half of the ccm are blocked off by big double doors but we keep having to open them at certain times so we can get from area to area when certain rooms are in use…
The internet wasn’t working so we got to get on early and type in word so don’t expect this long of a letter in the future unfortunately… or capitalization L word does that for me.
Internet is really bad here cuz of the construction.. it’s really hard to use and a pain…
4/5/12 - Hola
We made it safely to Argentina, our plane was a little late though because the door broke off or something and they had to call the engineer to come and fix it.... as obviosly we couldn't take off with out it :) We boarded the plane at 8 and left a little before ten for Argentina, and got in at about 8:30 this morning. It was a really bumpy ride becuase there was a really bad storm and the CCM (MTC in spanish) flooded! I met all my district at the airport, the three from slc and then one girl from CA, that's it. Not even any elders. So for official district stuff we group with the montevideo mission cuz they have elders.  Also, these keyboards are set up different! so I can do this ñ and some other stuff, it's crazy but makes it hard to type. and everything i see is underlined in red, and the shift key has moved so i'm just not capitalizing... as you can tell. p days will be on wednesdays, but unfortunately there are no pictures allowed while in the ccm :( only on the 3rd sunday when new people come and old people leave. They gave me my hep a shot today, they told me they don{t wait here for the six months they just give it to you as long as you got the other one at least a week before... and we had exorcise time today and i went out for like 20 minutes and forgot to put the bugspray on and got eaten alive, i counted 4 bites by the time they called me in for my shot. we{ve started learning spanish, though i haven't learned much yet. i learned the word weird it's roro but it's really hard to say because the second r should sound something like a d but not quite.... whatever i have to use it 10 times tomorrow, it was the word i chose. all the people here are really nice, and i feel bad i can't understand most of them. most of the elders speak english though.  we played volleyball today... and i sucked as usual but it was fun. my companions are all way nice, hermana sunderland is my companion (the one with the short blonde hair) it's me and her and two other latino girls in our room and the other two hermanas are in the room next door. the fruit here is good i had a banana and a plum today, oh and it's way small here! our chapel is like a tiny podium and then like 4 pews anyways have to go.
